A reconstruction of this apex body of Sufism-inspired Indian Muslims has been evolved in the context of increasing communal disharmony and growing misunderstanding and communication gap between the various communities in the country. In this backdrop, the AIUMB seeks to strengthen the national integration, cultural affinity and socio-religious harmony among Muslims and non-Muslims in India through the revival of World Sufi Forum, said the Founder-President of All India Ulama & Mashaikh Board (AIUMB), Hazrat Syed Mohammad Ashraf Kichhouchhwi.

All India Ulama & Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) organised two-day General Body Meeting on 10th and 11th of May, 2022 with an aim to reorient its national organisational structure and revive its legacy of peace-building, counter-extremism and social and humanitarian activism across the country. The meeting was held in Delhi’s reputed India Islamic Cultural Centre which invited a considerable number of AIUMB representatives and heads of Sufi shrines from various states including Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab and Uttarakhand.

In this backdrop, the AIUMB seeks to strengthen the national integration, cultural affinity and socio-religious harmony among Muslims and non-Muslims in India through the revival of World Sufi Forum, said the Founder-President of All India Ulama & Mashaikh Board (AIUMB), Hazrat Syed Mohammad Ashraf Kichhouchhwi.
To achieve this larger noble objective, the AIUMB has taken a pledge to strengthen and reorganise its well-known initiative for promoting interfaith harmony, peace and pluralism—World Sufi Forum (WSF), which is being proposed to be held in November, 2022, he announced. On this occasion, the National Spokesperson of the World Sufi Forum, Mr. Ghulam Rasool Dehlvi highlighted the four major objectives of the proposed WSF as follows:
1: Peace-building & Counter-extremism
2: National Integration & Communal Harmony
3: Promoting Interfaith Understanding
4: Inclusive Development & Education
Haji Syed Salman Chishti, General Secretary of the All India Ulama & Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) and founding member of the World Sufi Forum also spoke in this general body meeting. He focused on the enhancement of ethical and spiritual values among the youth and called for more attention to be given to the social and welfare activities, following in the footsteps of the Sufi mystics and saints like Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer.
The AIUMB General Body Meeting brought together heads of several Sufi shrines including Syed Tanweer Hashmir of Dargah Pir Hashim Bijapur (Karnataka), Syed Salman Chishti of Dargah Hazrat Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (Ajmer Sharif, Rajasthan), Syed Farid Ahmad Nizami of Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia (Delhi), Syyidi Miyan of Makan Pur Sharif (UP), Syed Aal-e-Mufstafa Qadri, prominent Sufi activist based in Hyderabad, Syed Nasiruddin Chishti,Mufti Habibur Rahman Alwi, Syed Alamgir Ashraf, President International Sunni Centre, Nagpur, Maharashtra.
In his conclusive remarks, the AIUMB Founder &President, Hazrat Syed Mohammad Ashraf Kichhouchhwi laid great emphasis on the future action plans of the organisations which include opening educational institutions, training centres for civil services competitive exams, collaboration with governmental and non-governmental organisations for the educational and welfare programmes.
On this occasion, Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Award has been conferred to a number of Sufi Ulema and spiritually inclined Islamic scholars who have actively participated in the nationwide work and various activities of the AIUMB. They are mentioned as below:
